Corporate-Level Membership

Corporate-level membership in Canal New York offers organizations a powerful platform to shape the future of New York State’s canal system through coordinated, strategic advocacy. Members gain direct access to a unified voice that engages with state legislators, Canal Corporation and NYPA leadership, and key policymakers on issues affecting infrastructure investment, waterway operations, economic development, tourism, and waterfront revitalization. By aligning with a coalition of like-minded businesses and institutions, corporate members can help prioritize legislative agendas that reflect shared interests and deliver meaningful, long-term impact.

Through this alliance, corporate members participate in the development of policy positions and advocacy campaigns that advance the vitality and sustainability of the canal corridor. For nearly two decades, Canal New York has served as a trusted convener, bringing together public and private stakeholders, including Canal-related employers, to present a cohesive, credible case for funding, regulatory support, and policy improvements that benefit the broader Canal System, its communities, and businesses.

As a 501(c)(6) organization, Canal New York is the sole statewide entity empowered to engage in lobbying the New York State Legislature and Governor relative to canal policy and legislation, offering an important platform for members with a vested interest in seeing the Canal System continue to function and thrive. In addition to legislative advocacy, corporate membership fosters collaboration and partnership opportunities with peers whose goals are closely aligned. This network amplifies individual organizational efforts, enabling members to leverage collective expertise, resources, and influence. By joining at the corporate level, members not only strengthen their own strategic position but also contribute to a coordinated, forward-looking vision for the canal system that supports economic growth, heritage preservation, and community development across New York State.

Canal New York’s annual membership fee entitles corporate-level members to the benefits outlined above, as well as sponsorship recognition at annual events.
